District 4 Needs A Business Rep

Our parent District needs to hire a Business Rep.

IAM District 4 is hiring a Region 2 (MD.) Business Representative to be filled preferred by June 1, 2026.

Position Summary:

The Business Rep serves as the primary liaison between the IAM Union and its members, advocating for workers' rights, enforcing collective bargaining agreements, and strengthening member engagement. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and a deep commitment to union principles and solidarity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent members in grievances, disciplinary meetings, and contract enforcement matters

  • Negotiate collective bargaining agreements and contract modifications

  • Investigate workplace issues and resolve disputes between members and management

  • Provide guidance and support to stewards and local leadership

  • Conduct workplace visits, membership meetings, and organizing efforts

  • Maintain accurate records, case files, and correspondence

  • Assist in contract campaigns, mobilization efforts, and union initiatives

  • Participate in political action that aligns with workers' issues and candidates

  • Collaborate with union leadership on strategy and member support

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
  • Negotiation experience

  • Grievance handling/arbitration experience

  • Strong problem-solving abilities

  • Attention to detail

  • Self-motivated

  • Demonstrated unionist commitment

  • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule, including as-needed hours, which will include weekends at times
